‘It is a joy to be hidden, and a disaster not to be found - imagine a game of hide and seek, and how quickly the delight and joy of hiding will disappear if you realise that no one is coming to find you. This is true of our emotional lives as well’. Winnicott
CHILD COUNSELLING
Child counselling is a therapeutic approach aimed at helping children understand and manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours in a healthy way. Unlike traditional therapy for adults, child counselling often incorporates play and creative techniques. This approach helps children communicate feelings they may not have the words for yet, making therapy more accessible and effective. I work with both the child and their family to ensure consistent support and promote emotional development, resilience, and mental well-being.
I work with a number of presenting issues, including: • Emotional regulation (managing anger, fear, sadness) • Social skills development (interacting with peers, making friends) • Academic stress (school-related anxiety, performance issues) • Behavioural challenges (acting out, defiance) • Family dynamics (divorce, death of a loved one) • Trauma (abuse, accidents)
YOUNG PERSON COUNSELLING
Young Person counselling is a therapeutic approach designed to help teenagers and young adults navigate the emotional, mental, and social challenges they face. Adolescence and early adulthood are periods of significant change, both physically and emotionally, and I aim to provide support during this critical time.
The primary goal of young person counselling is to help an individual develop emotional resilience, improve problem-solving skills, and enhance their overall well-being in preparing them for the transition into adulthood with greater confidence and emotional stability. I work with a number of presenting issues, including: • Emotional difficulties (anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues) •Behavioural issues (rebellion, defiance, poor decision-making) •Academic stress (pressure to succeed, difficulties with school) •Family problems (divorce, conflicts with parents, sibling rivalry) •Social challenges (peer pressure, bullying, difficulty making friends) •Identity and self-exploration (sexuality, personal values, future goals) •Trauma and abuse (experiencing or witnessing abuse, loss, or significant life changes)
